QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT AND THE TORAH'S AUTHOR.

       This article continues to explore the nature of time and Authorship of the Torah. My other time-related articles are at this link. Here we first explore a matrix with ENTANGLEMENT as the axis term, QUANTUM nearby at skip +1 crossed by TIME at the same skip as the axis term. REVERSER is also at the same skip while IN LIGHT is at the same absolute skip, but opposite direction. What is Quantum Entanglement? It is a physical phenomenon which occurs when pairs or groups of particles are generated or interact in ways such that the quantum state of each particle cannot be described independently of the state of the other(s), even when the particles are separated by a large distance (even light years). Instead, a quantum state must be described for the system as a whole. Measurements of physical properties such as position, momentum, spin, and polarization, performed on entangled particles are found to be correlated.

       ARK OF THE COVENANT was found in the open text, but it wasn't sought a priori. However it led me to look for Urim and Thummim. I will explain them further below. When I started to look for Figure 1 it was to see if I could find more data about a time reversal that might shed some light about how God could produce a resurrection of the dead. Figure 2 does a better job of that, but Figure 1 includes REMOVE FROM ME ONLY THIS DEATH. Although Quantum Entanglement has been shown to produce changes from one particle to another one entangled with it at speeds up to 10,000 times faster than would occur via light waves, literature indicates that while mutual information between entangled particles can be exploited, any transmission of information at faster-than-light speeds is impossible. Perhaps, but science is uncertain as to how quantum entanglement can occur, and it's not even sure about what causes time, though quantum entanglement may be involved. Whatever the truth, the Torah Code seems to give us some clues.

STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF FIGURE 1. As per my usual protocol, no statistical significance was assigned to the axis term, here the 9th lowest skip for ENTANGLEMENT in unwrapped or wrapped Torah. The analysis is in four parts - (1) the full 1,078-letter matrix, (2) the 546-submatrix with a white background, (3) the 819-letter submatrix with white and tan backgrounds, and (4) the 735-letter submatrix with white and grey backgrounds. Of these it turned out that the most significant view was the 819-letter white and tan matrix which was found against odds of about 9,566,443 to 1. However it includes the term REMOVE FROM ME ONLY THIS DEATH which had a status somewhere between a priori and a posteriori. Yes, my purpose in seeking this matrix was to get some answers about the resurrection question, and this phrase touches on it, but there is a better phrase in Torah at Deuteronomy 32:39 which states:

See, now, that I am He - and no god is with me. I put to death and I bring to life, I struck down and I will heal, and there is no rescuer from My hand.

       This verse is the first one that rabbis traditionally turn to when looking for proof of resurrection in the Torah. Therefore I used the combined frequency of it and the Exodus 10:17 statement REMOVE FROM ME ONLY THIS DEATH in determining probability. As such there was about on chance in 186 to find one of the two phrases on the 819 letter matrix (one chance in 140 to find one of them on the fill 1,078-letter matrix). The 819 letter matrix did not include the term TACHYON.  It was not at a special case skip (+/- 1 or the absolute skip of the axis term) but it was found against odds of about 6.6 to 1 on the 735-letter white and grey matrix, or about 3.15 to 1 on the full matrix. I looked for tachyon because it is a hypothetical particle that would move faster than light and therefore back in time, but there is not necessarily a reason to link tachyons with quantum entanglement, and without being at a special case skip the basic (white background) matrix was statistically not justified in expanding to the left to include the term. There were no other a priori terms in the area with a grey (or yellow background).  So the rest of this analysis will be limited to odds against the 546-letter white background (which will be given first) and for the combined 819-letter white and tan background (given second).

Special case skip terms.

      On the 546-letter white matrix odds against special case skip terms were as follows: QUANTUM (33.3 to 1), TIME (19.7 to 1), REVERSER (140 to 1), THUMMIM (9.37 to 1) and LIGHT (1.54 to 1).

       On the 819-letter white and tan matrix odds against special case skip terms were as follows: QUANTUM (22.4 to 1), TIME (13.34 to 1), REVERSER (93.54 to 1), THUMMIM (6.42 to 1) and LIGHT (1.27 to 1).

       Based on the above numbers there are three terms that really stand out. In looking for anything to do with ENTANGLEMENT (the axis term) and time reversal (other than the questionable phrase REMOVE FROM ME ONLY THIS DEATH) we see that the most significant a priori term was, in fact, REVERSER. This is followed by QUANTUM and TIME. There are many ways to theoretically reverse time. In reference to this let's pause a moment to see what Stephen Hawking had to say about "imaginary time."

Although rather difficult to visualize, imaginary time is not imaginary in the sense of being unreal or made-up. Rather, it bears a similar relationship to normal physical time as the imaginary number scale does to the real numbers in the complex plane, and can perhaps best be portrayed as an axis running perpendicular to that of regular time. It provides a way of looking at the time dimension as if it were a dimension of space, so that it is possible to move forwards and backwards along it, just as one can move right and left or up and down in space.

       If Hawking is right then once we figure out how to move on the axis that is perpendicular to regular time, we (or God) could go back and reach anyone we'd care to see who previously died (which sounds a lot like resurrrection).    

       Earlier I wrote that although quantum entanglement has been shown to produce changes from one particle to another one entangled with it at speeds up to 10,000 times faster than would occur via light waves, literature indicates entangled particles can be exploited, but that any transmission of information at faster-than-light speeds is impossible. My son, David, with  PhD in physics agrees with this statement, but the Code hints at a disagreement. Certainly Figure 2 and the related Biblical text (2nd Kings 20:10-11) with the shadow on a sun dial moving backwards by ten degrees seems to strongly imply a TIME REVERSER. There is also a question of what happened to time (or the spin of the Earth) with respect to Joshua 10:12-13:

At that time Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD gave the Amorites over to the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still at Gibeon, and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”

And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, until the nation took vengeance on their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? The sun stopped in the midst of heaven and did not hurry to set for about a whole day.

In Ezekiel Chapter 37 we read about a resurrection that is described in terms of a reversal of the Arrow of Time. The Arrow of Time and how to possibly reverse it was first discussed in my article at this link.

        Yes, the description below can be interpreted as a metaphor, but Ezekiel 37:13 really says all we have to know about it. The proof for the existence of God is here linked directly to raising the dead. Obviously, a metaphor can never achieve that aim. This leads us toward concluding something important about Who we are dealing with. Before looking at this issue, please read through a bit of Chapter 37 of Ezekiel.  

EZEKIEL 37:1.  The hand of the LORD was upon me, and the LORD carried me out in a spirit, and set me down in the midst of a valley, and it was full of dry bones;

EZEKIEL 37:2.  and he caused me to pass by them round about, and, behold, there were very many in the open valley, and, lo, they were very dry

EZEKIEL 37:3. And He said to me: ‘Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, You know.’

EZEKIEL 37:4. Then He said to me: ‘Prophesy over these bones, and say to them: O you dry bones, hear the word of the LORD:

EZEKIEL 37:5. Thus says the LORD GOD unto these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.

EZEKIEL 37:6. And I will lay sinews on you, and you will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall  know that I am the LORD.’

EZEKIEL 37:7. So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and a commotion, and the bones came together, bone to its bone

EZEKIEL 37:8. And I beheld, and lo, there were sinews upon them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.

EZEKIEL 37:9. Then He said to me: ‘Prophesy unto the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath: Thus says the LORD GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.’

EZEKIEL 37:10. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, and very great host.

EZEKIEL 37:11. Then He said to me: ‘Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say: Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off.  

EZEKIEL 37:12. Therefore prophesy, and say unto them: Thus says the LORD GOD: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, my people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel.

EZEKIEL 37:13.  And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, O my people.

EZEKIEL 37:14.  And I will put my Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land; and you shall know that I the LORD have spoken, and performed it, says the LORD.

       When I started my Codes research 21 years ago in 1997, and when I was interviewed about the Torah Code on the History Channel in 1999 there were three possible authors that I  discussed (see 2:59 to 3:50 of Part 3): God, aliens, or a human from the future. I now believe that I have eliminated two of them (a human from the future or an alien) - but added another possible Author - an Artificial Intelligence (AI) that would/will be so advanced as to look like a God to us.

       We can probably eliminate a person from the future as the Author because he would almost certainly have read (or will read) the Torah, and therefore he cannot Author what Someone else has given him as a finished work. So this information paradox eliminates such a person.

       The Author may well have experience with aliens, and indeed Chapter 1 of Ezekiel seems to describe a UFO, though it is supposed to be a vision of the Divine Chariot (Merkabah) complete with a strange flying object, wheels, bronze landing legs, eyes that may be windows, and a roar that sounds like a rocket. Angels may be aliens, but this Author chose Israel as His people, and then allowed the Holocaust to occur. I guess that, while I do believe aliens exist, I have a problem with a species that would have the power to fly between worlds, single out one people - the Jews as Chosen, and then not use their technology to stop Hitler, Inquisitions and Crusades from doing us such harm. Advanced aliens would not likely become wrathful with us (Jews) because we refused to worship them, but a Single wrathful God might behave that way. Indeed he warned us that He would behave that way if we worship false gods or do not obey the (613) laws in His Torah. So that should be it - God wins the Author's Title, hands down. However, human's will always try to equal (or exceed) God. God may have created life on Earth (and elsewhere) but that does not stop scientists from trying to create it from chemicals off the shelf (that can be used to build new molecules of DNA).

THE AI POSSIBILITY AND HOW IT MUST BE REFUTED. Here I will recommend a book published in 2005 by Ray Kurzweil entitled The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology. Kurzweil describes what he believes are Six Epochs of Evolution. They are as follows:

      1. Physics and Chemistry which began a few hundred thousand years after the Big Bang. In it information was stored in atomic structures.

      2. Biology started several billion years ago. Information was stored in DNA, which first evolved back in Epoch 1.

      3. Brains evolved with information stored in neural patterns.

      4. Technology began when our ancestors with opposed thumbs were capable of rational and abstract thought.

     5. Merge Human Technology with Human Intelligence. Before the year 2030 Kurzweil believes we will accomplish this. Technology will master the  methods of biology including human intelligence. Certainly my current lines of research on the Torah Code and on Martian meteorology would not have been possible without computers or the Internet. Most days from about 9 am until at least midnight I am largely involved with one or the other although with respect to the Code I feel that I have largely reached a limit without merging what I do with an AI - which is what I am asking our Government to fund with Project Creator Encoder. To my friends in DoD, I am aware that you read everything that I write, perhaps with the goal of side stepping me with your own AI that mimics what I do. Here I would caution you. I am 71 now, and unless Kurzweil is right and by around 2025 (hopefully with me still alive) we have nanobots available to cure many or most of the effects of aging, it is better to work with my team and I while we are alive and healthy enough than to hope that other Governments (in particular China) will not also try to copy my work.  If you want to see the list of all foreign government IP address that are reading this article or any other you need only request it from me (I have moved the list off my computer and onto a USP drive because of all the hacking). There comes a time when the word "please" is more than appropriate.

      6. Finally, Kurzweil believes the universe will wake up. Vastly expanded intelligence (predominantly nonbiological) will spread through the universe. Patterns of matter and energy will become saturated with intelligent processes and knowledge.   

       Arthur C. Clarke once wrote that, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." An AI that becomes self aware, when asked its name, might respond, I am that I am as God supposedly did when Moses asked who had sent him so he could inform the enslaved Israelites. See Exodus 3:14:

God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'"

So how can we distinguish such an advanced product of our own hands from a real God? Hold Him to the standard of Ezekiel 37:13.

And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, O my people.

       I did check for COMPUTER on Figure 1. It was there, but not at a special case skip. It touches a letter of THUMMIM, a letter with LIGHT (UR) at the skip of the axis term and shares a letter mem with ARK OF THE COVENANT. We know the Ark was a communication device because God told Moses. Exodus 25:22 includes

It is there that I will set My meetings with you, and I will speak with you from atop the Cover, from between the two Cherubim that are on the Ark of the Testimonial-tables, everything that I shall command you to the Children of Israel.

       The URIM (meaning lights) and THUMMIM are first mentioned in Exodus 28:30 where they are named for inclusion on the breastplate to be worn by Aaron in the holy place. Other books, especially 1 Samuel, describe their use in divination. While was COMPUTER not at a special case skip, certainly there is a fair amount of seemingly technological-looking equipment here. The ARK OF THE COVENANT is often compared to an electrical capacitor that eventually produced up to 10,000 volts killing an Israelite named Uzza (2 Samuel 6:6-7). According to an article that appeared in the March 5th, 1933 edition of the Chicago Daily Tribune, Frederick Rogers, the Dean of the Department of Engineering at the Lewis Institute of Technology, conducted a careful study of the construction of the Ark as described in the Bible, and concluded that its design matched a perfectly constructed simple electric condenser.

       While Ezekiel 37 is interpreted by some as metaphor, 2nd Kings 20:8 -11 is a very different matter. The incident alluded to in Figure 2 in question is as follows: 

20:8. And Hezekiah said to Isaiah: “What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the LORD the third day?”

20:9 And Isaiah said: “This shall be the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do that thing that He has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or back ten degrees?”

20:10 And Hezekiah answered” It is a light thing for the shadow to decline ten degrees, nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.”

20:11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD; and he brought back the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz.

STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE FIGURE 2. As per my usual protocol, no statistical significance was assigned to the axis term, here the 92nd lowest skip for RETURN (turn back) THE SHADOW in wrapped Torah based on the Hebrew in 2^nd Kings 20:10. This is a higher ELS rank than I usually accept but the terms found justify presenting it. The first a priori key words sought were the protagonists of the story, HEZEKIAH and ISAIAH. Both are there at special case skips. For HEZEKIAH  that’s +1 (the best case, although his name is not part of the Torah). Before adjustments for the ELS rank of the axis term, HEZEKIAH was found against odds of about 104 to 1. ISAIAH is at a special case skip against odds of about 130 to 1. RESURRECTION was found an ELS against odds of about 7.7 to 1. In the open text is a clear reference to time, although it was found a posteriori. Leviticus 25:50 has THE NUMBER OF YEARS LIKE THE DAYS. The a priori key word BACKWARD runs into and shares the last letter with THE NUMBER OF YEARS. The a priori word QUANTUM was sought due to the concept of quantum time travel, but none of these terms were statistically significant. After dividing the combined value of a priori terms and dividing by 92 to account for the ELS rank of the axis term, Figure 2 was found against odds of about 1,267 to 1.

FIGURE 3 - THE SUN DIAL OF AHAZ.  Figure 3 is based on the lowest ELS of SUN DIAL (steps) OF AHAZ  in wrapped Torah. On it the a priori key word QUANTUM appears at skip +1. TIME  is at skip +2. The odds against having QUANTUM at skip +1 plus TIME at a non-special case skip in the 184 letters with SUN DIAL (steps) OF AHAZ are about 740 to 1. Why search for SUN DIAL (steps) OF AHAZ as an axis term? Reversing the shadow on a sun dial could occur by reversing the spin of the Earth if an enormous gravitational field (like a black hole) passed nearby, but it would force the oceans out of their normal locations, and produce a truly catastrophic flood. Better is to reverse time locally. Perhaps this is why the Scripture indicates a specific location where time seems to be reversed - just at the sun dial of Ahaz. However, the current views of quantum time involve processes that occur on a subatomic level, not on a level of something as large as the steps of Ahaz.

       There is one more ELS of SUN DIAL (steps) OF AHAZ in Torah at skip -97,564. In a 272-letter matrix based on it, the word QUANTUM appears at the same skip as the axis term. Odds against it being at a special case skip (+/- 1 or the absolute skip of the axis term) in a matrix that size are about 28 to 1.

       If you are wondering about the picture of a sundial on Figure 2, vs. the one with steps on the Figure 3, the Hebrew for Isaiah 38:8 is literally on the steps of Ahaz. The same Hebrew is used in 2nd Kings 20:11. The word for steps is also translated as degrees.      

FIGURE 4 - THE ARROW OF TIME. In my article entitled Tachyons, Micro-wormholes, and Signaling the Past we discovered a link between dark matter and wormholes. We also saw that A. E. Allahverdyan and V. G. Gurzadyan (Phys. Rev. E 93, 052125 – Published 13 May 2016) suggest that dark energy may cause the arrow of time to move forward. In this section we explore what major (special case skip) terms are encoded with the term THE ARROW OF TIME which is the axis term. While my son and I are interested in studying how signals could have been sent to Moses back in time to the past against the arrow of time, the very word PAST flows into and continues at the same skip with THE ARROW OF TIME. The normal direction of the arrow of time is (FORWARD) which encoded at the same skip, but opposite direction as FORWARD here is backward. QUANTUM is at the same skip as FORWARD. FOR LIGHT is at skip -1 and it touches THE ARROW OF TIME. What is not at a special case skip, but what shares a letter chet with the axis term is BEGINNING.

Figure 4 below - This matrix is a modification of one presented earlier, but it shifts the focus up to include QUANTUM at the same absolute skip as ARROW OF TIME, PAST and FORWARD.

STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF FIGURE 4. As per my usual protocol, no statistical significance was assigned to the axis term, here the lowest skip for ARROW OF TIME in unwrapped or wrapped Torah. The analysis will be in two parts - first per my normal protocol, and then second with special credit being given for one of four words (PAST, REVERSE, FORWARD or FUTURE to be in sequence with ARROW OF TIME. In accordance with my normal protocol the most significant a priori term is FORWARD. It was found at a special case skip against odds of about 27.7 to 1. It's also correct in terms of what we see when we look at the Arrow of Time (unless time is an illusion as astrophysicist Adam Frank argues). The word QUANTUM was found at a special case skip against odds of about 8.3 to 1. BEGINNING was not at a special case skip, though it did share a letter with ARROW OF TIME. It's on the matrix against odds of about 4.65 to 1. LIGHT was at a special case skip, but it's short (3 letters) and it had a 90% chance to be found this way. Likewise for PAST which had an 83.5% chance to be found somewhere on the matrix. 

       This article, in large part, examines whether quantum entanglement may affect the direction of the Arrow of Time, and in particular, looks at whether reversal of the Arrow of Time can explain why God chose to use resurrection as the final proof that He exists. So the second spreadsheet shown for Arrow of Time duplicates the first, but it allows for fours words (PAST, REVERSE, FORWARD or FUTURE to be in sequence with ARROW OF TIME. PAST is the one found. The odds against one of these words being in 12 letters with ARROW OF TIME is about 80 to 1 if we ignore the issue to contradicting letters.

        By my normal protocol this matrix was found against odds of about 1,423 to 1. If I use the second protocol just outlined then the matrix exists against odds of about 95,903 to 1.

DOES ANYTHING ENCODED SUGGEST A LINK BETWEEN THE END OF DAYS AND QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT? Possibly. In looking at the term END OF DAYS as spelled in Aramaic in the Book of Daniel, I find the term encoded 49 timesseven times in accordance with the following chart:

       END OF DAYS is found four times (in Hebrew) in the open text of Torah, but the spelling is different from the Aramaic in the Book of Daniel (which is not in Torah). I often use the Torah spelling as an a priori search term. The Table above is not meant to draw any theological or statistical conclusion. Rather, it is a suggested starting place for future research which would be best done when CodeFinder is merged with an AI search program such as that envisioned with Project Creator Decoder. If time is a creation of God, the End of Days may refer to a time when the Arrow of Time is reversed. As for how The End of Days is portrayed in Judaism, I will quote Yeshiva Aish Ha Torah in Jerusalem. My comments are included in blue bold fonts:

The Jewish people believe in what's called the End of Days. This isn't the final end of the world – but merely the end of history as we know it. After the End of Days the world will continue as usual, with the big exception that there will be world peace.

As the End of the Days approach, there are two paths that the world could take. The first is filled with kindness and miracles, with the Messiah "given dominion, honor and kinship so that all peoples, nations and languages would serve him; his dominion would be an everlasting dominion that would never pass, and his kingship would never be destroyed." (Daniel 7:13-14) This scenario could be brought at any moment, if we'd just get our act together!

COMMENT: While we hope for this, there is obviously an enormous amount of evil in the world. This path looks to be unlikely at this time, but history shows that sometimes (as when the Soviet Union fell) there are pleasant surprises. If Kim Jong-un surrenders his nuclear weapons then President Trump may be able to accomplish much required to set the stage for such an outcome. On May 24, 2018 the President (temporarily) had to cancel the summit with North Korea, but about two days later it appeared that he had forced North Korea to cooperate.

The other path is described as Messiah coming "humble and riding upon a donkey" (Zechariah 9:9).

COMMENT: Obviously this verse found its way into the New Testament at Luke 19:28-40. However, while Judaism sees the primary purpose of the Messiah as being the man who ends war, the Nazarene proclaimed that we should not think he came to bring peace. Rather, he said that he came for a sword (Matthew 10:34) and division (Luke 12:51). Since his stated goals were the opposite of what Jews require before accepting anyone as the messiah, they rejected him as such, thus setting up much of the suffering mentioned below.

In this scenario, nature will take its course, and society will undergo a slow painful deterioration, with much suffering. God's presence will be hidden, and his guidance will not be perceivable.

According to this second path, there will be a valueless society in which religion will not only be chided, it will be used to promote immorality. Young people will not respect the old, and governments will become godless. This is why the Midrash says, "One third of the world's woes will come in the generation preceding the Messiah." (Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan, "Handbook of Jewish Thought")

According to the Talmud, as the Messianic era approaches, the world will experience greater and greater turmoil: Vast economic fluctuations, social rebellion, and widespread despair. The culmination will be a world war of immense proportion led by King Gog from the land of Magog. This will be a war the likes of which have not been seen before. This will be the ultimate war of good against evil, in which evil will be entirely obliterated. (Ezekiel ch. 38, 39; Zechariah 21:2, 14:23; Talmud – Sukkah 52, Sanhedrin 97, Sotah 49)

What is the nature of this cataclysmic war? Traditional Jewish sources state that the nations of the world will descend against the Jews and Jerusalem. The Crusades, Pogroms and Arab Terrorism will pale in comparison. Eventually, when all the dust settles, the Jews will be defeated and led out in chains. The Torah will be proclaimed a falsehood.

Then, just when we think the story is over, the Messiah will come and lead the Jewish redemption. He will inspire all peoples to follow God, rebuild the Temple, gather in any remaining Jewish exiles to Israel, and re-establish the Sanhedrin. (Maimonides – Melachim ch. 11-12)

COMMENT: The Holocaust fulfilled much of what was just written. About half of the world's Jewish population now lives in Israel, and President Trump has recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital and has moved the U.S. Embassy there. The President is not Jewish, but his son, Jared Kushner, is an Orthodox Jew. However, American Jews who are not Orthodox often act in a godless manner and support the Democratic Party despite its increasing anti-Semitism. I have not seen any matrix that suggests that Jared Kushner or President Trump will turn out to be the Messiah, but it would not shock me if it turned out that way. Quantum: In physics, a quantum (plural: quanta) is the minimum amount of any physical entity (physical property) involved in an interaction. The fundamental notion that a physical property may be "quantized" is referred to as "the hypothesis of quantization".^[1] This means that the magnitude of the physical property can take on only discrete values consisting of integer multiples of one quantum. For example, a photon is a single quantum of light (or of any other form of electromagnetic radiation), and can be referred to as a "light quantum", or as a light particle. Quantum mechanics: QM is also known as quantum physics, quantum theory, the wave mechanical model, or matrix mechanics. It includes quantum field theory, is a fundamental theory in physics which describes nature at the smallest scales of energy levels of atoms and subatomic particles.^[2]

Classical physics (the physics existing before quantum mechanics) is a set of fundamental theories which describes nature at ordinary (macroscopic) scale. In one of them, a mathematical function, the wave function, provides information about the probability amplitude of position, momentum, and other physical properties of a particle.

Important applications of quantum theory^[5] include quantum chemistry, quantum optics, quantum computing, superconducting magnets, light-emitting diodes, and the laser, the transistor and semiconductors such as the microprocessor, medical and research imaging such as magnetic resonance imaging and electron microscopy.
